語源

動詞 consider (よく考える、考慮する) の現在分詞形 (-ing) が、前置詞や接続詞として使われるようになったものである。
consider の語源は上記の considerate と同じラテン語の considerare である。

「〜という点を考慮に入れると」という意味合いで文をつなぐ役割を果たす。
