語源

接頭辞 re- (再び) + 動詞 construct (建設する、組み立てる) から成る。
construct はラテン語 construere (共に積み上げる、建設する) が由来で、con- (共に) + struere (積む、建てる) から成る。

文字通り「再び共に建てる」ことから、「再建する」という意味になる。また、過去の出来事などを情報から「再現する」という意味でも使われる。
