語源

ラテン語の integritas (完全性、無傷、正直) が由来。
形容詞 integer (完全な) + -itas (状態・性質)。

「完全な状態」が原義。道徳的に欠けるところがない「誠実さ」「正直さ」「高潔さ」、あるいは構造や状態が損なわれていない「完全性」「統一性」。
