語源

名詞（神殿）はラテン語の templum 「（鳥占いのための）聖域、神殿」が由来。名詞（こめかみ）はラテン語 tempora （tempus 「時間、こめかみ」の複数形）から派生した俗ラテン語 tempula が古フランス語 temple を経て入った言葉。

一つの単語に複数の語源がある。神を祀る建物「神殿」「寺院」。また、頭部の目の横の部分「こめかみ」。
